Water management should be designed into the house rather than treated as an emergency repair after stains appear. Chennai homes need particular attention to roofs, balconies, bathrooms and drainage because water problems can damage finishes and create repeated maintenance work.
Real project imagery for context.
These images come from the current KAINOS project library and are included to show the visual language of residential, commercial and design-stage work.

BATHROOMS AND WET AREAS
Waterproofing should sit beneath the final surface and be coordinated with floor slopes, thresholds, pipe penetrations and drainage. The finish is only the visible layer of a larger system.
TERRACES AND ROOFS
Exposed surfaces need a considered combination of slope, drainage and waterproofing. Ponding water is a design and maintenance problem, not just a coating problem.
BALCONIES AND OPEN AREAS
Transitions between interior and exterior surfaces are vulnerable points. Pay attention to edge details, outlets, door thresholds and the fall towards drainage points.
TEST BEFORE YOU CLOSE
Where the construction method allows, inspect and test waterproofed areas before tiles or other finishes hide the work. Finding a problem early is easier than removing a finished surface later.
DO NOT SEPARATE WATERPROOFING FROM DRAINAGE
A waterproof layer and a badly designed drain are not a complete solution. Water needs both resistance and a reliable path away from the building.
Use the guide with your actual project documents.
Online guidance can help you ask better questions, but the final construction scope should be based on the actual plot, drawings, engineering requirements, selections and project-specific BOQ.
